Adorable, fun Nubian goats are just one of the many animals you can see at the Petting Farm at Mountain Valley View Farm! Our petting farm is affordable family fun for all ages, and is open year-round for your enjoyment. Come out to our family farm and enjoy some homemade apple cider or delicious hot chocolate while you meet the over 80 species of animal at our petting farm, including many rare, exotic, and endangered breeds! And in the meantime, here is some information about the Nubian goat for you to learn about.

The Nubian is a relatively large, proud, and graceful dairy goat of mixed Asian, African, and European origin. The breed originated in England as a cross between the Old English Milch Goat and bucks imported from the Middle East and North Africa. They are the most popular breed of goat in the United States. Nubian goats are known as excellent dairy goats, producing a large quantity of creamy milk that is higher in butter content than any other breed. They also make good pets, and are gentle and very trainable. The Nubian is mild-mannered and intelligent. They can be taught to lead with a dog collar and leash. They can also be harnessed to a cart and taught to drive. Nubians love human interaction and will call for their owner.

Goat milk is higher in calcium, vitamins, and protein than cow milk. At the same time, it has a lower fat content and is easy to digest, often even for those who are lactose intolerant. Mountain Valley View Farm will begin selling fresh goat milk next year and quantities will be limited, so be sure to call 509-928-1800 to get on our waiting list. You won’t want to miss out on this delicious, healthy milk!
